there are HOT SHOWERS there!!! If you have an option to camp in A or B loop on in walk in area - choose the walk in area. When I was here in late January it was almost empty - there were only three sites occupied. I put a tent right next to the water - there was breathe blowing the whole time - so I did not suffer from the mosquitoes at all.
this place is amazing at night the sky is full of stars and the breeze coming off the water makes it a wonderful place for star gazing the wildlife makes for some awesome photo ops and the peace and quiet make it a great place to relax and unwind the bath rooms are very clean and well kept
The trail leading to the visitor center is close by and it is only half hour walk to the visitor center.
The view onto Florida Bay was stunning. You can also see dolphins right next to the shore every morning and night.
Skip it. Ask yourself why this NP campground only gets 4 out of 5 stars? This place is party central on the weekends with hundreds of teenagers meeting here for wild parties characterized by loud music played over loud speakers, loud car stereos, screaming and yelling all throughout the night, throwing beer bottles, drunks galore, vomiting, and zero law enforcement. Good luck. Youve been warned.
Great spot to camp before or after a fishing or kayak trip.
And the most awesome thing is: HOT SHOWERS!!!! The bathroom next to the amphitheater has hot showers powered by solar panels.
1/3 the cost of a rural hotel room(it's $20/Night) and you'll likely get blasted by music. This is typical for Florida though it's meant as a string in the net meant to catch uneducated tourist revenue.. There are nicer places for the same cost-range..
